The Rippling Blossom story and preview :

A Hong Kong dining mogul leaves behind a sushi restaurant to his second wife, KONG YING-YUET (Lui Yau Wai), their son, YU CHI-HIU (Tse Tin Wah), and the son from his third wife, YU CHI-YING (Cheung Chi Lam). HIU is a remarkable Japanese cuisine chef whose sole aim in life is to pursue excellence in chefhood. Although HIU and YING have different mother, they get along very well. LANG YUNG-YUNG (Lo Yuen Yan), their father’s first wife, suppresses and creates troubles for the restaurant. HIU declares challenge to her, claiming whoever wins will have the restaurant. YUNG sends her personal nurse, CHOI SZ-LUNG (Tavia Yeung), to get close to HIU. He is completely smitten with love for her but soon becomes dejected by their lukewarm relationship. On the other hand, the supply for fresh food has been shut out. YING has to make a trip to Hokkaido to buy fish. He meets KEUNG KEUNG (Myolie Wu), a willful girl from a wealthy family, on the plane. They get to know MOYUNG CHING (Damian Lau) by chance in the fish market. CHING, “The God of Fish” who leads a reclusive life, discovers that YING is indeed a gifted chef. Later when YING and HIU meet with setback in career, family and love one after one in their attempt to save the restaurant, the two brothers decide to have a competition.

Guangzhou is in a state of political turmoil in the 1930s. Gangsters are on a rampage and opium trading becomes rampant. As they watch the illicit profits from opium trading escalate, the government forms the Anti-Smoking Bureau under the guise of suppressing opium, but the bureau is under the influence of CHENG LONG-KWAN (Yueh Hua), the gang’s kingpin. His eldest daughter CHENG KAU-MUI (Sheren Tang) who is an unscrupulous person soon returns from Shanghai to reap the rewards. MUI meticulously plans her every move.

On the other hand, Lau Sing (Wayne Lai) is the leader of the Criminal Investigation Team. Despite his hot temper, he values friendship and brotherhood more than anything else. Once, he almost sacrificed his life to help his timid teammate, Tong Kat (Pierre Ngo).

It is fated that MUI and SING should meet each other and survive many calamities. It is also fated that both are fierce contenders who will never give in, although mutual understanding and affection slowly grows between them.

Meanwhile, the Japanese army invades China and Guangzhou falls into the hands of the Japanese. MUI enters the darkest time in her life when her aunt CHENG LONG-HEI (Susan Tse) frames her.

The Season of Fate (Traditional Chinese: 五味人生, literally The Five Tastes of Life) is an upcoming 2010 TVB television drama from Hong Kong produced by Nelson Cheung.

The poor Lin Sheung-chun (Esther Kwan) is sold to Kwan's family as a concubine but her husband passes away accidentally. Losing a husband has caused the first wife Wong Yeuk-lam (Michelle Yim) to have erratic behavior. Chun has no choice but to take up all family responsibilities including operation of the family's bistro. During this time, Ma Wing-ching (Roger Kwok) and Lei Shi-mui (Regen Cheung) are swindling around, with their schemes getting unveiled by Chun. However, Lam mistakenly recognizes Ching as her senior apprentice and she runs after him all the time. Ching seizes the chance to swindle money by working at the bistro. After a series of incidents, Chun and Ching unexpectedly begin to fall for each other. Chun feels caught in the middle between Ching and her childhood friend Laung Kau-mui (Derek Kok). All of a sudden, Fung's second senior apprentice Yam Fei-yeung (Lawrence Ng Wai-Kwok) returns home with his foster son Yam Shing-tin (Oscar Leung). NIP CHI YUEN (Steven Ma), who works in the anti-smuggling camp, is determined to wipe out the Tau's Fort, which is the stronghold for salt smugglers. He pretends to be a down-and-out scholar. TAU SING SUET (Tavia Yeung Yi), daughter of the chief smuggler, sympathizes with YUEN and puts him up in the village. Later, they even become fond of each other.
